The datasheet lists VDD max at 5.5V. What is Vdd min?
Moved this question on the HMC-ALH445 to the Hittite Microwave Products from ADI community.
I asked Design about the minimum acceptable operating Vdd for the HMC-ALH445 and was told that there is no particular Vdd minimum "as long as it is not too low." The performance in terms of P1dB will degrade with decreasing Vdd, but it should be able to operate at Vdd=3 V without a problem. In fact, the gain may increase as Vdd is decreased below a certain level. It is a single supply design within which the gate is grounded and the source has a resistor that is used to generate (from Vdd) what effectively becomes the negative bias voltage for the gate...so Vdd/Idd interaction could come into play.
I found that we have S-parameter data taken at Vdd=4.5 V, 5.0 V, and 5.5 V. Across that range of Vdd voltages, the gain variation is very small. See the plots below of S21 Magnitude vs. Vdd for one sample device, measured at temperatures = +25 deg C, -55 deg C, and +85 deg C (at die bottom).
