I'm using several ADAU1961 audio codecs in a new design (with the ADAU1452 digital audio processor). Does the ADAU1961 require external input and output active filters similar to that shown with the AD1938 and some other audio codecs?
No, it does not require those filters. On the input side you may want to have a single pole LPF just to be sure that you will not be getting any aliasing but with 128x oversampling it can be a very gentle passive filter. On our evaluation boards we do have provisions for a simple filter but it is shipped not stuffed. For the DAC output you do not need a filter. I am attaching the schematic for the eval board. This board is for the ADAU1761 and the ADAU1961. The I/O is the same for both of these parts.
