AD5206 used to control inverting op amp gain

I am attempting to use the AD5206 100k Ohm digital potentiometer to replace the 100k Ohm feedback resistor

in an inverting op amp to control the gain. I am powering the AD5206 with a single 5VDC power supply.

When I apply an AC signal as input, the positive portion of the output signal of the op amp varies as expected

when the potentiometer resistance changes, however, the negative portion of the inverting op amp output

is clipped. Is this happening because I am using only a positive supply voltage for Vss (5VDC) to power

the AD5206? Do I need to use a dual supply voltage in order to see both positive and negative portions

of the output of the inverting op amp?
