As the title says, can I use SigmaStudio to implement an adaptive FIR filter using LMS or RLS adaption method? It seems not so convenient but I'm not yet familiar with all that is in the library.
The SigmaDSP does not have a feedback method to adapt its filter coefficients on the fly on its own. If you need to do adaptive filtering, then you would need a microcontroller to do the decisions and coefficient calculation on-the-fly.
The LMS or RLS adaption calculations are very mips intensive and could not be offloaded to a microcontroller unless the design has a low sample rate. But then you might not need a dsp at all if the sample rate is low. The application I am looking at, a type of echo canceller, is running at 48Ksample 2 channel and does not have or otherwise need an external microcontroller. The canceller function could be placed after a decimation filter to reduce the mips and memory requirement but SigmaStudio does not support multirate either, so for now the SigmaDSP looks like a dead end for this application.
