I need to come up with a solution that does the following:
1. Input NTSC or PAL video signal.
2. Overlay simple text and graphics in color.
3. Output NTSC or PAL video signal.
Do you have any parts or app notes on how to do this?
You could do this with ADV7180 and ADV8005 but it would not be a simple solution. ADV7180 + FPGA + ADV7393 would work too but probably be just as expensive and complicated.
There really is no such thing as a "simple" overlay. There is lots of functionality, including memory, needed to overlay an image on live video.
I'm basically trying to replace the MAX7456 in an existing design. It's pretty simple. It has NTSC video input, some registers to draw the overlay, and NTSC video out.
(BTW, the original post by harryh was my question I sent to tech support via the website)
Understood-- we don't have anything that simple for CVBS.
You can do a basic overlay with ADV7627 on HDMI which could be on NTSC but I think you are asking about analog video, right?
