AD7147 floating pins

Hi. I am currently evaluating the AD7147 for use in one of my company's projects.

In the datasheet (revision D) it says on page 19:

input pin can be tied to either the negative or positive input of

the CDC, or it can be left floating. Each input can also be

internally connected to the BIAS signal to help prevent cross

coupling. If an input is not used, always connect it to the BIAS.

My question is: What is cross coupling?

And more to the point: Can I leave unused CIN connections floating? Or must I connect them PHYSICALLY to the bias pin?

When you say that "always connect it to the BIAS", do you mean physically or simply set the register in that way?

Thank you
