saving mat files in 2014_R2

On a ZC706/fmcomms5 setup, I recently upgraded to 2014_R2 by re-imaging the SD card and copying the new boot files to the top level directory. After rebooting, I ran the update tools / boot scripts and launched the osc program. It appears that the save mat functionality might be broken in this release? Using File->Save As -> Mat seems to have no effect, but other methods like csv save still work fine.

I attached a console log of the steps taken after initial bootup in case it is helpful.

Also, the update_boot script failed without updating, but I believe this error has been reported on other threads.
