I have an circuit that uses the AD5372 DAC with VDD = +15V, VSS = -15V, and DVCC = +3.3V. Are there any sequencing requirements for these rails?
When the supplies are connected to the AD5372, it is important that the AGND and DGND pins be connected to the relevant ground plane before the positive or negative supplies are applied. After which, it is advised to power up the Vss then the Vdd, the DVcc, and lastly the other digital inputs/outputs.
Because the specification states that the other digital pins can be only a maximum of 0.3 V greater than DVDD, DVDD must be powered up before or at the same time as the other digital pins. If the other digital pins was powered up first (say to 5 V), DVDD would be less than the other digital pins by 5 V at power-up and would therefore not comply with the Absolute Maximum Ratings and possibly damage the device.
This is required to prevent currents from flowing in directions other than toward an analog or digital ground.
