I am looking for an accelerometer for monitoring induction motor vibration for use in industrial/automotive application. Which is best suited for this? will ADXL001 work ?
For vibration detection application, I would suggest you to check the parameters below:
1. BW, what vibration freqency that you are interested in.
2. measurement range, what is the biggest acceleration that you would like to monitor
3. noise or say resolution, what is the smallest acceleration that you would like to distinguish.
ADXL001 is very suitable for vibration and shock detection, it has wide BW, 32kHz. Up to 500 g measurement range, just the noise density is relativlty high, 2.15 mg/rtHz @5V supply for 70g range version.
Except ADXL001, you can also check ADXL203, ADIS16227, ADIS16228, ADIS16229 for your applications.
ADIS1622x are all the single chip vibration detection chip, they including sensor + signal conditioning + ADC sampling + FFT analysis, etc.
Hope these can help.
Great information, Neil!
