I have an AFE which uses the AD8221 in-amp.
Is it possible to drive the AD7176-2 with this in-amp directly or should I use a buffer stage (i.e. AD8656) to drive the ADC?
As long the voltage output of the In-Amp is within the ADC's limit, then it would be acceptable to use the AD8221 directly without the buffer in between.
Let me know if you need anything else.
May I ask what is the expected output of the AD8221 in-amp in your specific application?
Normally we would recommend using the buffer stage for impedance matching, and controlling the input levels for the ADC.
My application looks very similar to the one shown in the AD8221 datasheet (Page 20, Figure 50):
Hence the expected output is referenced to 2.5V and shouldn't go outside the ADC input range.
