AD1939 at 8Khz sample rate

I have read several posts and have tried multiple things to try and get the sample rate to 8Khz using an EZ-KIT 21469 board.  So far I have tried the following:

1. Setting the clock control registers to the following:

            (AD1939_ADDR), CLKCTRL0, 0x81,

            (AD1939_ADDR), CLKCTRL1, 0x03,

2. Setting the div0 and div1 SPORT registers to 93 and 23 for the clock and frame dividers

3. also tried lots of other combinations, can't really remember.

I am wondering, is there a shurefire way to turn off the PLL on the CODEC and then divide down the clock?  Do I have to create a Precision Clock Generator and if so, which connections are important?  When I bought this, the datasheet said it was capable of the 8 kHz, I just didn't realize it would be so complicated.....
