What is the status of the AD9361 reference design based on the Cyclone V SoC kit (http://www.altera.com/b/arrow-sockit.html) originally asked about in this thread: https://ez.analog.com/message/141405?
Just to be clear- because there are frequent queries on this project - we are actively working on finishing this up and releasing the hardware. This is at the top of our list.
We need to be able to run things reliably and characterize the hardware ourselves. We will update the FMCOMMS2 user guide with all the relevant information once this is complete.
Unless you are only interested in the AD9361 HDL core and capable of porting the software yourself, there is nothing much we could provide at this point.
Hello Rejeesh Robin ...
Our local Altera team asked me.
The project seems to be fully functional (even if there were not tested yet all the aspects). It was created a wiki page where we will post some instructions: Altera SOC Quick Start Guide [Analog Devices Wiki]
Many thanks for the reply & link.
Can you further help with a feq follow-up questions:
The hardware setup is composed of an Arrow SoCKit board and a Terasic FMCOMMS2 HSMC solution (I'm not sure if the board is already available for sale or not). I have uploaded a picture of the boards on the wiki.
The same software as on Xilinx boards runs on the SoCKit board (so it's a standalone solution: Linaro is running on the target, a monitor can be connected to the VGA output, a keyboard and a mouse can be connected on the USB OTG port).
A picture is indeed worth a thousand words.
Many many thanks for uploading it.
I am the local Altera distributor field application engineer who is working with the specific costumer.
Do you have schedule for the availability of this reference design/documentation?
We are looking at the RF performance - it only was up and running late last week. When we get some final results - we will share them.
Is there an update on this issue?
Is there a timeframe for this?
We are finished our checkout, and are in process of notifying folks with the results (which were good). All the software (HDL and drivers) are all checked into github.
Thanks for the update.
Does it mean TerAsic will release the AD9361 board now?
That's up to Terasic.
Is it possible to use a HSMC to FMC adapter board to connect a FMCOMMS3to the SoCkit or do we need to use the Terasic board for this reference design?
The reference design (as it is) -- is only for the Terasic board. We have NOT looked at the HSMC to FMC adapter solution. I would like to say it is possible, but we won't know for sure unless someone tries it.
There is now/finally stock in:
ARRADIO - Terasic Technologies, Development Kits and Tools. Order from Arrow Electronics.
