Are there any limitations with using the diagnostic current sources and the Voltage bias generator function on the analog input pins of the ADuCM360?
Yes, the following items should be noted:
- The VBias voltage output is a high impedance output capable of only sourcing <10uA typically
- The nominal VBias voltage is 900mV and is designed for biasing thermocouples
- By connecting a 50uA diagnostic current source, the bias voltage will change - the new voltage level will depend on the resistor values connected.
- When the diagnostic current is switched off, the voltage on the AINx pin will return to the Vbias (900mV) level but, due to the weak drive nature of VBias, this will take time so a slow rise/fall time will be observed. The time will depend on the capacitance connected to the VBIas pin
