ADV212 output file understanding - encoder mode

Question asked by SakyaSinha on May 14, 2014

Hi,

I am working with ADV212 chip. I have configured ADV212 for JDATA mode and the NTSC input is a constant colour frame Y = X"23", Cb = X"D4" and Cr = X"72". The configuration part went smooth. I am getting the compressed output from the chip also. The frame structure is same as mentioned in the document "ADV202 Output Formats Rev.0.0 dated 10/10/2005". Please check the attached files. Configuration is as below,

Register

Address

Value

Base address = X”00057F00”

Byte offset

NTSC System

VFORMAT + PREC

X”0” & X”1”

X”0000”

XFORMLEV + UNI

X”2” & X”3”

X”0503”

CBSIZE + WKERNEL

X”4” & X”5”

X”0000”

STALLPAR + ATTRTYPE

X”6” & X”7”

X”0000”

RCTYPE + RCVALUE

X”8” & X”9”

X”0100”

RCVAL + RCVAL

X”A” & X”B”

X”7A31”

JKPROG + PICFG

X”C” & X”D”

X”0001”

QFACT + COD_STYLE

X”E” & X”F”

X”0001”

My questions are,

1. How shall I confirm that the output is correctly compressed?

2. In the compressed frame the data size is X"13A" but I am getting almost 1256 words in between markers X"FF93" (SOD) and X"FFD9" (EOC).             Does it mean anything?

3. I am using Alberio ADV202 player to see the output. But it is giving some pointer error. Is it a correct test? or what should I do to see the frame in player
