7842-7511 eval board as VGA->HDMI converter

Hello all!

 

I've just received a 7842-7511 Eval board, and before starting working on the project, decided to test its basic functionality. I have a VGA (640x480 text mode computer) source and a DVI monitor. I've connected analog VGA to the EVAL board input and connected HDMI output to DVI-D input of the monitor. I'm expecting Repeater program to allow me see VGA input on HDMI output. No HDCP/encryption involved, computer source, computer monitor sink. Monitor is 1280x1024 (NEC 1990SX). The board was bought at AVNET.

 

I boot up the board with source and monitor disconnected, I see the '>' prompt, it responds to 'help' command, all is well.

The last two messages repeat indefinitely, until I reset the board or type in "stoprep".

 

And nothing happens on the HDMI output screen. The screen is "ON", not going into standby, but there's no picture from VGA. If I connect VGA to monitor directly I see the picture.

 

Now, the question: What I'm doing wrong and what should I need to do minimally, to turn 7842 EVAL board into a very expensive VGA2HDMI converter?
