FMCOMMS1 I/Q correction

Hello,

I have connected an off the shelf waveform generator to the FMCOMMS1. I'm looking at the raw output of the ADC for I and Q and I see that the I and Q amplitudes are fluctuating by a lot even though the transmitted waveform is very much sinusoidal and regular (like a QPSK 1010 pattern). The IQ correction which is done in the axi_ad9643 core compensates only for the phase offset occurring in the modulator is that correct?

So that means that additional IQ correction may be required for example as described here: http://wiki.analog.com/resources/eval/user-guides/ad-fmcomms1-ebz/iq_correction Am I on the right track? Or is something else happening that I don't have in mind?

Thank you very much!
