16 bit Floating point format and EE-357 question

Hi,

We are working on the ADSP21489 and we have some remaining questions:

1. In the ADSP21489 datasheet, it talks about a 16 bit floating point format. Is it possible to use this in C or somehow in Visual DSP? If so, how do we declare such a variable? Are there any examples?

2. In EE-357 it talks about running code "executing a peak power consumption test vector" and "executing NOP instructions". The end result is putting squarewave-like power consumption on the power supply. This is great for testing and we would love to do this. The question is -- is there example code available so we can test our own power supply using that method?

Thank you,

Marc
