AD5755: Short Circuit Protection - What exactly it means & How it works ?

Hi,

The specifications of AD5755 make is suitable for my application. But, before finalizing I need some clarifications.

1. The datasheet says "A short is detected on a voltage output pin. The short-circuit current is limited to 16 mA or 8 mA, which is programmable by the user". I want to know how it is detecting the occurrence of short circuit. Also, Does the short circuit mean a short to system ground(zero potential) or to any other voltage sources also.

2. What is the significance of Vsense+ and Vsense-. Is there any role for these pins in short circuit protection. Also, please clarify how these pins will be connected practically. The contents available in the datasheet are ambiguous.

Thanks,

Jebas.
