Is it possible to program the EEPROM from a command line utility instead of needing SigmaStudio running? This is for a production application where I don't want them to have access to SigmaStudio.
As far as I know, this is not possible. I will forward to the software team in case they have a comment.
SigmaStudio generates a .hex file when you compile and download the EEPROM binary. You can convert this to a standard EEPROM binary data file using 3rd-party software. We have had a discussion in this thread describing some ways to accomplish this: http://ez.analog.com/message/24635#24635
Thanks Brett. After I jump through those hoops, can I still use the USBi tool that came with the EVAL kit to program the EEPROM or do I have to change over to some other programmer to do the job? Wasn't sure if ADI offered a convenient method for a production environment or if we are on our own to accomplish this?
Unfortunately we haven't implemented an easy way to use the USBi (EVAL-ADUSB2EBZ) to do large-scale EEPROM programming. I think customers generally use their own 3rd-party tool to do this.
One interesting option would be to give the EEPROM image directly to the supplier. I think they can offer you the service of pre-programming the EEPROMs before sending them to you. For example, I think Digikey does this.
