Preliminary schematic with AD7291 implementation. May i know the ALERT pin (pin 12): Is the pin an open drain output? As i saw from the datasheet it stated as digital output pin? Please advises.
Thank you so much.
I did receive the following message from the development team:
"It is a push pull driver. Open collector output should have been the right choice. But, we have CMOS driver there as this core also supports SPI interface. Since Alert pin is CMOS output, no pull up should be there"
I have sent a message to our development team to confirm the design of the Alert output pin. I will update this post when I receive a response. The evaluation board for the AD7291 has a 10 kohm pull-up resistor connected between the alert pin and Vdrive. This would suggest an open-drain configuration. Once I receive confirmation, I will let you know.
I received the following message from the design team for the AD7291.
"Only the two I2C pins are open-drain. So I think the alert pin should be a CMOS out."
However, like I stated in my previous message, the alert pin on our evaluation kits has the same sized pull-up as the I2C pins, so I've asked for a bit more verification. I would recommend leaving the pull up in the schematic design and then potentially making it "Do Not Install" in the future. The Analog Devices offices are closed from Friday December 20th, returning January 6th. During this time there is only limited applications cover available. If I receive an update during this period, I will be sure to provide it as soon as possible.
Any updates? Hope you can reply me the exact answer by this week. I'm waiting for your answer to do my development. Thank you so much.
