I have a question about How to determine the ENOB(Equivalent number of bits) of AFE such as AD9945/AD9920A ?
I've asked an expert on these parts to come comment.
You can use the total output noise specification to calculate the SNR, or you can refer the noise to the input to compare directly with your sensor output noise. One of these approaches might be useful in your analysis.
thanks for your reply.
but i am sorry that i did not find the total noise specification on datasheet, i am reading the ad9945 datasheet, would you mind help me to find the parameter. thank you~
why Maxim's AFE can provide this parameter ?
The output noise is on page 3. For the AD9945 it is 1.2 LSB rms. This gives an SNR of approximately 70.7 dB. If you prefer, this can be converted to ENOB, which would be roughly 11.5 bits. For imaging applications, generally output noise is the preferred specification.
