AD7793 Common Mode voltage range with Bias enabled

I need some clarification on the Common Mode Voltage range for the situation where the internal bias voltage is in use for thermocouple application.

For my specific application, I am using the AD7793 to measure thermocouple sensors similar to figure 20 in the datasheet with AVDD and VREF = +5V. If the internal bias generator is enabled, can an external common mode voltage that is referenced to the AD7793 GND pin be applied to the thermocouple junction or must the thermocouple junction always remain "floating" to avoid damage to the internal bias generator ?

Thanks,

Tony
