Hello. It is possible to use AD8541/2/4 if the input voltage greater than the supply voltage with external clamping diodes and a current limiting resistor?
It is possible to survive, but not "use" the op amp. There are ESD diodes to V+, so if you have a series resistor and then a shottky diode to the V+ pin, you will protect the op amp. The op amp does not operate as an op amp if the inputs are above or below the supply rails. There is one manufacturer that has extra circutry that does all operation as an op amp, even though the two inputs might be a few volts above the V+ pin, but this over the top operation is a proprietary technique.
What are you trying to do? High side current sensing?
In operation, the input voltage does not exceed the supply voltage. But I want to protect the sensors interface circuit from malfunction.
Can you attached a schematic of what you propose?
Doesn't look like there should be a problem.
