What are the output formats for the ADV7842 without using any external memory? For SDR and DDR modes do you need to use external memories? It is unclear reading the data sheet.
For the ADV7842 external memory supports the SDP Comb filter and Time Base Correction (TBC) features. Output formats are not effected.
The data sheet is rather curious. The only two times it references SDR and DDR modes is first - talking about the external memories. The second time it is referencing the pixel output modes. So does SDR and DDR reference the external memories or something more generic?
The device can use either SDR or DDR memory as specified section 12 of the hardware manual. This external memory implements the 3D Comb and TBC features for the SDP.
The output video data stream can be either SDR or DDR timing formats as specified in Appendix D of the manual. I would stay away from DDR pixel output format if you can, it just makes life easy.
So yes, the manual reference SDR and DDR for 2 different functions, external memory interface and pixel bus interface
Appendix D of the manual? I have only the data sheet and the Software User guide UG-206. Neither have an Appendix D. Where is this other documentation available?
You can find additional documentation for the ADV7842 in the ADV7842 Design Support Files FAQ here:
