Hi,

I am developing an energy metering system. At the moment I use the ADE7878 evaluation board with a

STM32 microcontroller. Currently I use the optocoupler on the ADE7878 board. I am at the point

that I have to think about designing a pcb.

In which case is is necessary to use a separated ground? Is it necessary for the precision of the ADE7878 that

I separate the voltage supply from the micro controller supply?  Or is it only necessary because of safety reasons e.g.

if I connect the micro controller via USB to a computer?

Best Regards

Max
