I am using the ADC with chop enabled. If I do not perform internal full scale calibration, the ADC drifts abruptly (not slowly) after approximately 8 minutes. Is this normal?
I have solved the problem. The internal Vbias was off. I need it on because I am measuring a thermocouple differential voltage with no external bias. I imagine over time offsets were set n and the CAL would remove them. I do not need to CAL nearly as often with the Vbias ON.
To help us better understand your problem, we'd like to know the following:
1. How AD7794 is configured? Can you provide us its register settings?
2. What analog input is applied to the ADC?
3. What is the reference voltage used?
A full-scale calibration is recommended to remove the ADC's full scale error, however, there should not be an abrupt jump in conversions at any time assuming there is no change in temperature.
