Does ADV7623 pass EDID information coming from monitor(sink device) to DisplayLink(source dvice) as it is or delete the unnecessary information, in the case the EDID includes information of non-supported resolution?
EDID is used to define the sinks supported capabilities. If you have given wrong-info, it needs to be corrected.
If suppose the source sends in the format not supported by the sink, then 'mode not supported' will be displayed on the sink.
If there are unsupported resolutions in the EDID, then the application can modify the EDID to remove the unsupported ones before sending the EDID to the source.
Does this mean ADV7623 does nothing(pass through the info)?
Yes, ADV7623 will not do any updates to the EDID info. If requried, application can modify and update the EDID back to the EDID registers, which will be read by the source.
Is there any case where nothing will be displayed on the monitor if the user wrote wrong info like non-supported resolution in the registers?
