Is the value from AENERGYA register the info I need to get energy in kWh? I am only using ChannelA. I need to report a value.
Yes. However, you might need to accumulate over some time period to get accurate results. Active energy Line cycle accumulation mode starting at page 26 of the datasheet will educate you on how the line cycle accumulation can be set up to get a proper energy value that you can report.
Yes, I am using Line cycle accumulation mode. Here are my register settings.
I check if the cycle is finished every 1 sec by reading the IRQSTAT register and then I read the AENERGYA register. I thought the value I was reading was in Watt-seconds.
I was told to take the value and multiply by reference power standard and then divide by a calibrated power gain. I see that value is divided by 3600 to get hours and then divided again to get kilowatt.
There is a calibration App Note for ADE7953 that addresses the methodology to convert the register values in Watt-hours. Refer to page 11 of the document. You will need to find Wh/LSB constant that would indicate how much energy in Wh is denoted by 1 LSB accumulated in the AENERGYA register. Is this procedure what you were looking for?
