How can I detect the presence of a VGA cable at VGA_5V independent of any HDMI inputs?
I thought there was a register bit for this, but I don't see it. I'm checking.
I'm told you can use the EDID bit. There is no cable detect read back for the VGA input like wehave for HDMI. However if there is an EDID present on the VGA input then we canuse an read back called “Auto VGA EDID enable”.
0 = No EDID activity detected while during a power off state
1 = Detected EDID activity during power off state
This way you know if a device has tried to read the EDID or not. Not exactly the same thing but that's what is there.
One caution –
Some VGA sources don’t provide a 5V. STDI is a better detection method, there is detection registersfor HS, VS and embedded. There are ACTIVE bits in the CP map.
