for a new design we need an DAC / Video Encoder which supports CVBS-PAL, RGB with PAL timing/resolution but also VGA and XGA.
Does the ADV7343 or an other device support both - CVBS-PAL and RGB with VGA XGA Timing?
The ADV7343 does support CVBS-PAL and RGB with PAL.However, it does not support VGA or XGA timing. We would recommend using a video DAC such as the ADV7123 for VGA and XGA. The ADV7123 could not handle CVBS out though.
I've nearly expected the answer, as the datasheet didn't mention VGA/XGA at all.
We planed to input RGB 4:4:4 Data and disable all color space conversions and internal timing functionalities. As we would only support VGA/XGA at 60Hz, we assumed to work within the specification of the ADV7343. HSYNC and VSYNC could be generated directly by the FPGA

As we need to support CPAL / RGB PAL and VGA/XGA, the additional ADV7123 will cost as too much Pins at the FPGA.
Could you connect the ADV7123 to the same digital lines as the ADV7343? Then power down the ADV7343 when not in use. You're running at low enough frequency that it should work.
Unfortunately not, that was my first Idea, but Board space on PCB is missing, and the FPGA Bank reserved for Video Out is 1,8V - works fine with the ADV7343.
Is there a general Problem when supplying a RGB 4:4:4 Data via VGA/XGA Timing to the ADV7343, or are only the HSYNC/VSYNC Signals not supported?
The ADV7343 just does not support that timing. Have you built your PCB already using the ADV7343?
I'm wondering about http://ez.analog.com/message/8666#8666 which states support for 5-wire RGB for the ADV7343?
The part can be configured in many ways but the only ones we support are those specifically mentioned in the datasheet.
