I am completely new to ADI's line of Sigma DSPs. I wonder if they can calculate exponents of signals so that doing polynomial fits would be possible. For example, sig + k1*sig^2 + k2*sig^3 ...

From reading the datasheet I suspect they cannot, but often datasheets are not exhaustive.

Yes you certainly can make a power series function with SigmaDSP, and it's quite easy. The schematic shown below implements the first five terms of the Taylor series for y = e^x:

As the input (x) ramps up, the output increases exponentially:
