I was wondering what options I have if I want something other than a sine wave output.
Some of our lower speed DDS devices offer other output waveforms. The AD5930 and AD5932 both offer Square and triangular wave options, specifically. Our higher speed devices rely on an algorithm for the angle to amplitude conversion, this precludes a simple approach to alternative waveform synthesis.
You will find that some of the available products offer either an on board comparator or an MSB output pin option. These are two functions that can be used to achieve a square wave output from the DDS, though in each case, the result will not be as clean as can be achieved by utilizing an external comparator to implement this function
We have some devices with RAM on them. Using some semi-complex math, it would be possible to map out a set of profile configurations that could be pre-loaded into the RAM and cycled through using the sweep function.
