What is a switch mode buffer type (Which is used in Device Manager) Where can I find details/documents related to this?
I talked to our SSL Developers ::-
Though adi_dev.c includes something called Switch Buffers, the functionality was never intended to be released & will be never be supported in our device drivers. Therefore there is no relevancy for the related terms in the SSL Manual.
Hope this clarifies your question. Were you just curious about the usage, or were you looking for some solution to an existing problem?
I looked in to some of the physical drivers (eppi/sd etc), and in most cases the switch buffers appear to be disabled - couldn't really find an example!. Even adi_dev.c also seem to make this as FALSE by default. This appears to be part of ADI_DEV_DMA_INFO, that is defined for one device of the physical driver. I do agree that the System Services & Device Driver manual doesn't explain this well - some of the buffer types are yet to be explained. I would think that, these are part of additional higher level APIs, normally used by actual hardware drivers.
I will talk to the developers and find out what those technically mean, how they can be used from user front, & how to document them better in the manual.
Thanks Prasanth, I was just curious about the usage
