External DRCTRL with AD9910 Evaluation Board

Is it possible to externally control the DRCTL pin of the AD9910 while still having the evaluation software setup the control registers and program a sweep?  I want to be able to program a chirp that ramps from start frequency to stop frequency and then goes "dead" for a period of time before I initiate another chirp.

It looks like the DRCTL pin is controlled by the altera chip on the board.  I can disable this chip, but it would also disable the other pins the Altera chip is controlling.
