JTAG chain with 2 x BF561 and 1 x BF537

We are currently testing a custom Blackfin-based board with 2 x BF561 and 1 x BF537 DSP's among others. To debug all 3 DSP's simultaneously a corresponding platform has to be configured in the VisualDSP++ 5.0 (Update 7) Configurator tool. However, this is not possible and upon trying, one gets the following error message:


"Emulator session cannont include 2 different processor types: ADSP-BF537 and ADSP-BF561"


A similar setup can be constructed with the VisualDSP++ 4.5 (July 2007 Update) Configurator tool without any warnings. All hardware tests have been passed including signal integrity on the JTAG chain.


What is the recommended approach for connecting multiple devices on the JTAG chain?



The setup described in #1 has been successfully tested in VisualDSP++ 4.5 Update June 2007 using an older ADDS-HPUSB-ICE JTAG Emulator. If the same setup is tested with a newer ADZS-HPUSB-ICE JTAG Emulator, the emulator fails to connect to any of the devices. Both emulators use the same setup in VisualDSP++.


What are the differences in the two devices, since the older version succeeds in connecting the the multi-DSP setup where the never fails?


The tests have been conducted on multiple PC's, using multiple DSP boards with the same results.
