Detector Input Coupling options

Certain ADI Detectors call out in the data sheet that while the input must be AC coupled, "Some of the possibilities include dual-input coupling capacitors, a flux-linked transformer, a printed circuit balun, direct drive from a directional coupler, or a narrow-band impedance matching network." *AD8307/9/13 are examples.

Others only call out coupling capacitors.

Can you describe why that is, and what drives the abbility to be more versitile?

Also, is there any useful info on these referenced coupling techniques and their tradeoffs?

Thanks !
