What exactly is the VDK and why does all LWIP application examples use it?
Why isn't there a standalone ethernet application example?
just another inosent question..
VDK = Visual DSP++ Kernel
it's a lightweight RTOS
LwIP is an open source IP stack. Although their wiki page does talk about non-kernel based implementation, the current implementation for Blackfin does not support the same. The libraries provided for Blackfin uses VDK as the underlying kernel for managing the stack. With the source code being made available to public, user can modify the same for their requirement.
All Blackfin related code/doc can be found here:
For any specific info on the LwIP stack, you would have approach the open source Forum:-
