The hardware reference for the BF51x series indicates 7 hardware slave selects for the SPI, but I only see 5 in the datasheet (I am using SPI 1).
Am I missing something, or are there actually only 5 hardware slave selects?
To complement what my colleague has explained, there are 5 slave-select outputs for SPI1 and 4 externally-accessible slave-select outputs for SPI0. The reason there is one less slave-select output for SPI0 is because /SPI0SEL4 is dedicated for the stacked SPI flash and is not bonded out to a pin on the processor. The enumeration for the slave-select outputs for SPI0 in the Signal Descriptions intentionally skips /SPI0SEL4 in order to maintain nomenclature consistency in the SPI0_FLG register.
Thanks for pointing out this discrepency. The data sheet and the General-Purpose Ports chapter of the Hardware Reference list the correct number of SPI slave selects and their locations. The SPI chapter will be updated to reflect this in a future revision.
Ok, thanks for the clarification.
