Long and short of it Sigma Studio crashed after trying to rename a block, now my project file won't even open. Instead I get a nice popup window with "Error reading graph from a file" "Key already exists Parameter name: Key"
Although this wont help you right now ... it may help in the future.
There are two things you can do to make sure you dont lose project work, theres the "hard way", used by programmers for 20 years or more:
1) run a version control system such as CVS, GIT or Subversion (SVN) ... personally, I run SVN on bigger projects, and there are some great SVN tools for Windows.
and the easy/lazy way:
2) make your working directory into a DropBox folder (http://www.dropbox.com) apart from the obvious benefits of keeping your work safe in case of laptop loss or disc failure ... DropBox saves all old versions (with some time limits) so you can easily roll back to a previous version if Something Bad happens.
Hi Tim and all;
In response to this thread. It was discovered that renaming boards (hierchy) with another existing hierchy name, is not prevented by SigmaStudio. This currently causes unexpected behaviour of SigmaStudio in serialization. We'll address this concern in the next SigmaStudio release.
Thank you Tim for pointing out this flaw.
Sorry this happened to you. Your loss reminds me of when I broke a large project with just a tiny addition. It would still save and load OK, but when run on the DSP it just made white noise. DSP resources were not the issue. Removing the addition didn't fix it. Eventually I gave up and re-drew the project. It took me less than half the original time, and allowed me to neaten things considerably -- see my post at
