We use ad9780 at 200MHZ sampling clock, since the frequency is not very high, could we use some default SMP, SET, and HLD values so we can avoid do SMP calibration? It's time consuming.
There are no defualt values because the SMP id dependednt on the delay from DCO to your ASIC or FFGA Plus dleyat thru the ASIC or FPGA and plus the dealy back to our AD9780. You can probably try a few values of SMP and find several that work without building the table.
Our reccomendation is to use our Ad9122 or Ad9121 parts instead of Ad9780 which have source synchronous interface. If you don't need the Interpolation or complex moudlation it can be bypassed on these parts. They use a similar DAC core to the Ad9780.
I'm running the ad9783 at 400MHz. I've noticed that the SMP, SET, and HLD values vary by one or two counts on about 6 different boards. These numbers also vary about the same on the same board running the procedure multiple times. If I chose to set them to a fixed value, I wouldn't have any trouble. With that said, I would still recommend writing a simple software routine to run the procedure on every power up. That is what I did and then I know it will work every time.
