1701 acts as master.
The device could be MEMS microphone, such as ADMP441. Also it could be codec, MCU, and so on.
What parameter should be taken care? Shall we add buffer on I2S?
Noted with thanks.
In my product, 1701 will drive 7 I2S devices, include itself(LRCLK output to LRCLK input). Is there a suitable p/n of buffer IC from ADI?
The ADAU1701's serial port pin drivers were only designed to drive one or two external ICs. It might be possible to have it drive 8 external microphones, but that depends greatly on the PCB design (trace length, layout, line termination...). I anticipate that the 3 MHz BCLK signal coming out of the ADAU1701 will probably have signal integrity issues when trying to drive 8 slaves. You will probably need to use some kind of external buffer IC in order to drive all of those microphones.
I'm asking ADI China for help on buffer IC. No need to do this by you. Thank you for your help.
Thanks, Jackie! Please let us know if you find a suitable buffer IC.
