Transimpedance amplifier driving SAR ADC

I have read in many paper/application notes that a capacitor is required in between the ADC and the amplifier. I want to know the steps in getting this capacitor value. Also as this capacitor increases  the capacitive load of the transimpedance amplifier (TIA), how can that be compensated? Does  the feedback capacitor designed for TIA sufficient for providing necessary compensation? the complete system is working in dc/low frequency range.

Thanks
