i m using ade7878 for metering and i m using PIC18f4520 MC. but the ade7878 does not respond right to spi.
i m using only single phase .. is it compulsory to attach all phases ??
or the configuration problem ??
It is not compulsory to attach all phases in order to communicate efficiently using ADE7878. What is the difficulty that you are facing? Have you checked the timing characteristics?
i have problem to configure the chip (ADE7878).
do you have configuration sample code ??
because in my code SPI returns a garbage value. but if i remove the phase then no value is returned. so i think that there is problem in configuration.
what can i do ????
i attach the code that was i written so far ... Please help me
I have attached the ADE7878 micro-controller code code that we use for our Eval boards. You can understand the initial settings and sequence of configuration registers from this code. Do let me know if you need any further assistance.
HI Hmani , Adil
i have been working on SPI communication between ADE7878 and Ember Em357 .When I am sending data from Ember to ADE7878, I am getting garbage value as Adil faced.I suspect that there is some problem in configuring the ade7878 .Please help me in configuring the ADE7878 to communicate with the Ember em357 chip. PFA attached config file of ade7878 .Please let me know the additional connection details if any other than connections with ember.
i have same problem but now the ADE7878 works fine for me ... i attach the evaluation note of this chip. in this u see the configuration steps. so configure your chip with these steps. its easy.
Actually I cannot program anything in ade7878 rite ??
So I Have to program in ember to initialize the ADE through Ember. But I could not get the head and tail of it except what I did in attached file ade7878.c
Please look into it
Yes. ADE7878 does not have a micro-controller. So, external coding needs to be done to configure ADE7878. Page 5 of the application note that adeelshah099 has pointed out (AN-1076) provides a clear step by step initialization procedure that needs to be followed.Setting of some of the registers and maintaining that order too is a primary requirement for expected operation.
I scanned through your code and you seem to not have done all the steps mentioned for the initialization part. If you have doubts as to how to go about performing each of the initialization steps, kindly go over the code I have attached in one of my previous posts in this thread.
I am using PIC24 to communicate with ADE. I am having some starting trouble regarding the calibration of ADE and setting it into different power modes. It would be really helpful if you could send me your code so that I could keep it as a reference and then develop my code with necessary changes.
I am waiting for a quick reply as I am working on a right schedule. Hoping for your co-operation and help.
