ADXL377 voltage output

Hi all,

A potentially silly question regarding the output of the ADXL377:

If the output for each axis is given as a voltage representing the current g's experienced by the device, how is a negative g' rating represented?

Is it given as a negative voltage?

In which case to read it it needs to be offset into the positive range in order to be read by an ADC?

Edit: I just noticed the zero g bias offset (@ approx 1.5V), is that there to deliberately remove the negative voltage element?

Many thanks,
