Is there a way to detect if a source is connected to one of the input of the AD8192.
if not can we considere that the DDC_5V from the connected source is a reliable way to detect if the source is
Yes, you may use the DDC_5V to detect the presence of a connected source. You may also consider the ADV3002 which includes an integrated LOS detector circuit. The ADV3002 is a 4:1 mux instead of 2:1.
If you use the AD8192 with external logic to detect the DDC_5V, I recommend disabling the AD8192 TMDS lanes when a source is not connected by setting bit 6 of register 0x00 to 0. This will prevent the AD8192 from amplifying any noise or EMI when it's inputs are floating.
The ADV3002 can automatically disable the output on a loss-of-signal event.
