Is there an ADUC7xxx microcontroller with 4 UARTs? I'm searching for one similar to ADUC7126 but need 4 UARTs instead of 2. I checked with Digikey and Mouser and didn't see it on their sites.
I would suggest a ADuC7126 with 2 UARTs and use the SPI up to 20Mbps with a SPI-to-Ethernet chip - this gives you better throughput than a UART-to-Ethernet and use the SPI as well for your other interface.
What was the original plan for the SPI ?
Currently none of the precision analog microcontroller offer more than 2 UARTs.
The question is for what purpose the 4 UARTs are required - possibly a SW UART may be sufficient for one or the other application purpose. Or you may also consider use the PLA to connect (multiplex) the UART pins (RX & TX) to other physical connections if they are not required to work in parallel at the same time. Can you explain your requirements a bit more?
I'm looking for 4 UARTs for the following reasons:
- 2 UARTs will be dedicated to serial-to-ethernet converters
- 1 UART will be used for RS232/485 communication
- 1 remaining UART is not needed currently and will be spare for now
I cannot multiplex UARTs as they are customer requirements. I'm aware of the SPI or I2C to UART but we have other SPI/I2C components in the system already and prefer to keep the code simple. With that said, does ADI have any microcontroller with the following specs:
1. 32+ GPIO
2. 3+ UARTs
5. -40C to 85+C
We use SPI to access DACs, temp sensors, PLLs, etc. Although we never used a SPI-to-Ethernet chip, we will consider this as a possibility. Thanks for your suggestion.
