HPUSB for boundary scan with ADSP21xxx

Hi all,

From the Sharc documentation and in particular EE-68 I understand that it should be possible to use JTAG interface to perform boundary scan tests with ADSP devices. I mean, I could use HPUSB ICE in order to check signals on processor pins when the BGA is mounted on PCB. I'd like to use this feature to indentify occasional connection defects (usually due to soldering problems) on a few production boards.

Unfortunately I can't find any documentation about how to do this in practical terms. Everything refers to the 1149.1 JTAG specification but Analog Devices neither supplies any software tool to do this, nor gives advice where I can get one.

The only tool I found by Googling around is the UniversalScan program, but it requires buying a licence. I also found a couple of other free tools, but they don't support HPUSB ICE.

Any advice?

Thank you and best regards
