AD9739 within PTP application...

I have a customer that is developing a 60GHz mm Wave PTP wireless system with the following requirements for data converters:

  • 4 channels both Tx and Rx
  • Sampling rate (>2.8 Gbps)
  • Bandwidth (>2 GHz)
  • Resolution (>5 bits)


Since we cannot service the ADC portion with a part that is in production today, I have focused my efforts on the DAC and am talking to them about using the AD9739 2.5 GSPS DAC (“A” version does not support synchronization or RZ mode) within thier application as I believe it's possible to lose a few bits of resolution and gain some additional bandwidth (they think they can get by with just 2.7 GSPS).


Can you confirm that this is indeed possible.  In addition, when running at the increased rate, I believe the device will no longer be a dual (1.25 GSPS is the most it supports in dual config).  If this is the case, can ADI provide guidance as it relates to the synchronization of multiple I/Q channels using multiples AD9739 devices?
