looking for precise description of compiler optimization

Hi,

I'm looking for a precise description of the things, the compiler does if optimization (Compiler Flag -O) is enabled. I need this information, because I'm working on a safety project and I have to know, what the compiler does. Optimization within a single function is ok, optimization over serveral functions is not. I need optimization - without, the generated code is to slow.

In the compiler manual (http://www.analog.com/static/imported-files/software_manuals/cces_1-0-1_comp_sharc_man_rev.1.0.pdf) I just get the information how to enable optimization but I don't know, what is really done.

Is there a more detailed manual, I did not found?

used tools:

CCES

Compiler: cc21k.exe

User Interface Driver : SHARC version 8.2.1.9 (Jul 21 2012 01:42:11)
