I want to develop a UPS power supply with 6 Li Ion cells. Any suggestion very much appreciated!
first of all you you will have to decide if you need a DC output or AC output, but I assume probably AC. For DC outputs a simple boost converter is sufficient.
We do not really have 1 IC that can provide that but the design would be similar to a solar inverter or motor control.
These are typically described in text books on power electronics static machines.
Single phase PWM generators from a uC will probably be needed in addition to drivers, current sensors, FETs, inductors ... well a lot of components.

Thank you foe your help! I have changed my mind and I have decided to use Lead acid accu instead of Li Ion. I need DC output of 24 V. VAC is 26 V. Is it possible to make a circuit that uses only one accu, which gives around 12,6 V, or do I need two Lead acid accus? Can you give me some link with some ciruit diagrams? I have searched around, but I didn'd find anything.

If all you need is 12V DC to 24V DC then try using the ADP1621 boost.
use www.analog.com/ADIsimPower enter your design parameters and it will give you the link to the appropriate tool to download.
What I need is UPS, which will use an accu when electricity is down and not just a bost up converter. Since I need 24 V DC I probably need two accus? I was looking for it, but there is no schematic for such an circuit. If you have something like this I would appreciate it very much!
